Albania Team 2004 -- Second Report

Albania Project

9 Oct. 2004

Hello All--
I have said before that this country has a way of capturing hearts. This continues to be true.

Today was our first full day in Albania. We began early in the day with a walk around Tirana, showing Chas the city. Then we ate a wonderful breakfast at the Stephen Center.

Most of our day we spent on a drive to Durras, a beautiful ancient coastal town. We saw a second century Roman amphitheater and forum. We ate lunch in a cafe on the beach. Then back to Tirana to get ready for church.

We visited Eli's home church, The Disciples of Jesus, a church planted by a Frontier missions worker named Van Golder. This church was amazing. We worshiped with people in Albanian. This year we were assisted by FM transmitters with English translation. The music and the sermon were heart warming. We worshipped with people in a different language, and yet sensed a strong connection with them through a common bond in the Lord

Albania is playing Denmark in a World Cup qualifying game tonight. The city is crazy with fans all wearing red, or draped in Albanian flags. Think of Laker madness and multiply the enthusiasm.

This was a good day. Thank you for your prayers and your thoughts

For the team, Kurt
