Letter from our Missionary Jay Haworth in Japan

Missions

Covenant Missions in Japan

Jay & Ellen Haworth

Vol.16 No. 1 February 28, 2008

Ellen and I came to understand this deep bond in a new way during our home assignment in 2007. We felt embraced by loving congregations, anointed by prayer and encouraged by a deep love and commitment that truly filled us with thankfulness and joy. We returned to the U.S. very tired and needy, but many of you stepped in and became God’s arms of healing and encouragement. We have just returned to Japan and feel

Men's Bible Study - "Men of Faith"

Men's Ministries

The men’s group is continuing its study focusing on becoming “Men of Faith, Men of Hope”. Our next meeting date is Thursday, April 24th at 7:00 PM in the Church House. We will have a special guest teacher, Mr. Steve Wilkinson, so come join us.

We are studying the lives and contributions of some of the great men of Scripture such as Job, Solomon, David, Paul, James and John. We're now following the evolution of another of the great men - Paul.

Each lesson is self-contained. See you on the Thursday the 24th of April. Bring a friend, a neighbor, your teenage son, and of course your Bible.

If you'd like to be reminded of the upcoming Bible Studies, send your email address to Jim Lowry. It won't be used for anything else.

E-SCRIP For the Pre-School.

Have you signed up for e-Scrip? This is the easiest way to fund raise, both for us and for you. It costs nothing, and it’s very easy to sign up. We will even do it for you! Just provide us with your Von's or Albertson's card number, address, and phone number, and we will do the rest! You can even register your debit or credit cards or register family and friends from out of state. Check the website (www.escrip.com) or with Beth in the preschool office (527-6011) for more information. Thank you to everybody who has signed up already. For September we received $942 through e-Scrip! 100% of this money goes into our fund for the new play yard.

Compassion Ministries at Simi Covenant

Compassion Ministries

Simi Covenant is committed to showing the love of Jesus Christ by helping those in real need. We have a food pantry open to all in need, we are part of a community dinner program for the homeless in our city, as well as PADS (Public Action Delivering Shelter)- the emergency homeless shelter open during the winter months.

- We ALWAYS need donations for our food pantry, as well as people who can help organize it.

- We are responsible for dinner the third and fifth Sunday of the month, this includes providing and serving dinner for approximately 40 people, we need people who are willing to provide food (cook), people to serve, or both.

- We host the PADS program every other Friday night during the winter. We need people who can bring a snack for Friday night, people who can be overnight monitors, and people who can cook breakfast on Saturday morning.

If you'd like to get involved, please contact Dolores Miller in the church office: 805-526-8855. Thank you!

Genesis

If you are looking for a church home, or simply looking to connect with other couples who are in the same place in life as you, this is it.

Genesis is for people who are starting something new: a new relationship, a new stage in an existing relationship, or a new chapter in the life of your family. This is a chance to meet others in the same place, make friends, and have some fun.

If you have any questions, feel free to contact Sue or Martha at the preschool 805.527.6011 or Bruce at the church 805.526.8855.
